HISTORY

It was 1974 and Yamaha continued to dominate the Motocross scene.

The MX175 was a medium-sized motocross bike designed to compete in motocross in the Middle and Eastern states, while also being suitable for markets in other parts of the U.S.

Undercutting the price from manufacturers like Husquavarna, and taking advantage of the younger riders already Yamaha savvy from their Junior racing days. The 175 or 250 was the obvious choice just like it was the MX125 they probably raced in the previous season.

Yamaha used many of the more exotic components from their works race machinery on the 250, as they considered the class the most important one to be seen to be successful. As with their other ‘MX’ models, like the 175. These machines are highly desirable for classic twin shock competitions, where they continue to achieve good results in this highly competitive class.

JTR

We ride, race and restore vintage motorcycles. Every single bike we buy and sell, we personally go through. My father Chris Reed, born in ‘59 has been racing and repairing these bikes since they were new. He had me on a JR50 at 4 years old and I cut my teeth on race tracks around the United States. I eventually sharpened my craft working under the wing of Peter Boggia (Moto Borgotaro) where I serviced and restored some of the rarest motorcycles on the planet.

I believe these bikes should go to people who will love, and appreciate them. You’re not just buying a bike from us, you’re supporting a brand that is deeply committed to celebrating these badass machines and preserving the vintage racing community.
